Luciano Pompilio graduated with honors in classical guitar in 1990, at the conservatory of Music "U. Giordano", in Foggia.
Among his teachers it is worth mentioning S. Mileto, C. Marcotulli, S. Palamidessi.
Seminars with A. Minella, A. Ponce, M. Barrueco, D. Russell, have also contributed to his formation.
In the meanwhile he also studied musicology at the University of Humanities in Bologna, thus achieving the Degree D.A.M.S., analysing the Nocturnal of Britten in Semiology of the music.
After relevant work experiences playing both solo and with several music chamber groups, Luciano has joined with G. Caputo.
Maestro Pompilio took 15 first prizes at guitar competition reaching the final rounds in over 25 guitar competitions.
His duo work with Maestro Giuseppe Caputo, was rewarded fist prize at the “Montelimar Competition” in France, considered the most prestigious duo guitar competition in the world.
Luciano and Giuseppe were the first Italians to achieve this amazing feat.
“Tribute”, Maestro Pompilio last CD, made the top 30 list Itunes top 200 Release in both Canada and Germany.
Luciano has played for important musical institutions in the following countries: Italy, Spain, Hungary, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Malta, Germany, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, France, Poland, Mexico, United States, etc.
He also attended the International three-years course on Concert Training at the Arts Academy in Rome, graduating with honors, under the guidance of the master Stefano Palamidessi.
He has improved his musical skills with David Russel, Alberto Ponce, Hopkinson Smith, Angel Gilardino, David Starobin, Carlos Bonell and the brothers Sergio and Odair Assad.
Luciano has done television recordings for Rai 3 and radio recording for RadioTre, Radio Vaticana in Rome, Radio Ukraine, France Musiques.
He has been a musician guest in Tele Padre Pio and in the world vision tv programme “The Bible Day and Night”.
His CD's are regularly transmitted by radio vaticana.
He regularly holds Master Class in Italy and in other countries such as Poland, Germany, Usa, Korea.
He has collaborated with different orchestras performing the greatest concerts for guitar both as soloist and in guitar duo and orchestra. He plays often with Rimsky Korsakof string quartett from St.Petersburg.
In 2007 the first national concert of The book of Signs by Leo Brower, guitar duo and orchestra.
In his recent visit to Paraguay, Maestro Pompilio was awarded “Premio Republica”, one of Latin America’s most prestigious civil awards. He is considered among the best performers of the music of the legendary Paraguayan composer Agustin Pio Barrios Mangoré.
He has produced 9 CDs. The Cd “Tribute”, Maestro Pompilio made the top 30 list Itunes top 200 Release in both Canada and Germany.
He has toured Europe, Asia and America on several occasions.
He is the artistic director of the International Festival of guitar "City of Manfredonia" and of the Season Chamber Music "In concert" in St. Giovanni Rotondo.
